Ayala Land Inc. (ALI), in collaboration with Baguio city officials, marked the groundbreaking of its first business process outsourcing (BPO) campus in Baguio, a key component of ALI's P3-billion investment in the city. Once completed, the Baguio Technohub is expected to generate over 20,000 jobs across BPO offices, retail establishments, and support services within the Camp John Hay Special Economic Zone.
The architectural design for the campus is led by Aidea Philippines Inc., ALI’s long-time design partner. Aidea has played a pivotal role in shaping Ayala Land's BPO developments, with Baguio Technohub being the fifteenth such project it has designed for ALI. The first building’s construction is set to commence by the second quarter of the year, with completion anticipated by the end of 2010.
Spanning a 12-hectare parcel within the Camp John Hay Special Economic Zone, the development will feature five to seven low-rise buildings, offering between 6,000 and 10,000 square meters of office space, complemented by a retail area aimed at boosting local economic activity. The project’s design is inspired by the green surroundings and rolling terrain of Camp John Hay, giving it a distinct character while ensuring minimal disruption to the natural environment. Aidea’s design ensures that the campus will blend seamlessly with the existing architecture and surrounding landscape, adhering to the highest standards of environmental sustainability.
Drawing inspiration from successful developments such as the UP-Ayala Land TechnoHub in Quezon City, also designed by Aidea, Baguio Technohub will feature integrated IT and BPO facilities, supported by retail components designed to cater to the needs of both businesses and the local community. This investment in Baguio follows the city’s designation as one of the Philippines’ top 10 next-wave cities by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines, which spurred ALI's decision to further invest in the area.
The Baguio Technohub represents a significant milestone in the city’s economic development, bringing new job opportunities, fostering economic growth, and contributing to the continued success of the BPO industry in the Philippines.
