Aidea Designs Polakay Island Resort

Aidea Philippines, Inc., ranked among the top global firms in building design, has been selected to design the masterplan for the Polakay Island Adventure Resort on Kabilang Ibayo Island (commonly known as Polakay Island) in Oriental Mindoro. Developed in collaboration with Ibayo Island Resort Corp. and the municipal government of Pola, this P300-million project aims to create a world-class eco-tourism destination that celebrates the natural beauty and biodiversity of the region.

Groundbreaking for the resort took place on April 13, 2010, and the development is expected to be completed within three years. The resort will offer a complete array of eco-tourism amenities, with the architectural design reflecting Aidea’s commitment to sustainable and innovative design solutions. The design theme will embrace a modern organic aesthetic, integrating natural elements with cutting-edge architecture. Traditional materials will be used in the design, but with contemporary massing, creating a unique blend of nature and modernity.

The resort’s design will focus on environmental education and nature-based activities, such as nature trails and water sports that highlight the island’s rich biodiversity. In addition to promoting water sports like wakeboarding, kayaking, and diving, the resort will also offer an array of land-based activities such as mountain hiking, ziplining, rock climbing, trekking, and bird watching.

The Polakay Island Adventure Resort will feature a clubhouse, an expansive infinity pool, parks, gardens, and a fishing village. Other planned amenities include an adventure park, a wildlife sanctuary, and a mangrove park, which will help preserve and promote the area’s natural ecosystem. Visitors will also experience the region’s local culture and cuisine, adding an authentic cultural dimension to the resort experience.

By combining eco-tourism with outdoor adventure, local culture, and world-class facilities, the Polakay Island Adventure Resort aims to become a premier destination for both local and international tourists, highlighting the beauty and sustainability of Oriental Mindoro.
