In 2011, Aidea Philippines participated in BIM Buzz Singapore, a prestigious 48-hour international design competition organized by Building Smart Singapore and the Building Construction Authority. Competing against sixteen professional teams from across the region, Aidea was challenged to design a resort hotel that embodied sustainability, buildability, and constructability—all within an intense two-day timeframe.
More than a test of creativity, the competition demanded fully coordinated BIM models, performance simulations, and construction-ready documentation, highlighting the growing global shift toward digitally enabled, high-performance design. Aidea's entry earned the competition's top honor: Best Use of BIM for Sustainability, Buildability, and Constructability -Professional Category.
The jury praised its clarity, strong coordination, and effective integration of simulation tools within the BIM model. The win underscored Aidea's technical leadership and ability to deliver high-quality output under pressure. Aidea led an all-Filipino team of architects and engineers from Tandem Engineering, NB Franco Engineers, and CB Engineers. Together, they used Building Information Modeling (BIM) not just as a documentation platform but as a tool for integrated, performance-driven design. The team’s entry included comprehensive architectural and structural coordination, MEP analysis, and sustainability simulations—covering sun and wind studies, energy modeling, and constructability assessments. The approach showcased how BIM can orchestrate a seamless, insight-rich workflow across disciplines.
Having adopted BIM as early as 2005, Aidea's early investment laid the groundwork for this success and continues to drive its global competitiveness. More than a milestone, the recognition reflected a culture of innovation, agility, and collaboration-affirming that Filipino talent can lead on the global stage and advancing the value of digitally enabled design in the AEC industry.
