Aquatics Center of Excellence

The New Clark City Aquatics Center, designed by ROYAL PINEDA + (formerly BUDJI+ROYAL Architecture+Design), served as the premier venue for the swimming and diving events of the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. Located in Capas, Tarlac, this facility stands as a symbol of the Philippines’ dedication to sports excellence,

blending modern architectural elements with Filipino heritage. The design is inspired by the fluidity of water, with sweeping forms and natural light enhancing the aquatic experience for both athletes and spectators. This cutting-edge venue is poised to host future international competitions, including the 2023 Asian Swimming Championships.

The Aquatics Center boasts world-class features, including an Olympic-standard 10-lane competition pool, an 8-lane training pool, and a diving pool with platforms ranging from 1 to 10 meters. Certified by FINA, these facilities ensure that the venue meets the highest standards for international aquatic sports. Its open-air design maximizes natural ventilation while creating a seamless connection with the surrounding landscape. The spectator areas were designed with comfort and visibility in mind, offering an immersive experience for audiences during the SEA Games and future events. Aidea’s role in the successful completion of the Aquatics Center was centered on leveraging our Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) capabilities. We facilitated a parallel progression of the design and construction phases, expediting the timeline to meet the tight schedule for the SEA Games.

Our involvement ensured that every detail of the design was realized with precision, contributing to the seamless execution of this world-class facility.

Aidea’s application of VDC was instrumental in the early completion of the Aquatics Center, allowing the project to finish two months ahead of schedule. By simulating construction processes digitally, we identified and addressed potential challenges well before they could impact the timeline. This innovative approach not only optimized the workflow but also ensured that the facility met the demanding standards required for the SEA Games. The result was a high-performance venue that exceeded expectations and became a centerpiece of the 2019 SEA Games.
