Aidea utilized the modular laboratory concept in the design of the building to fulfill the priorities of versatility, optimal security, and reliable hygiene demanded by such a facility. A naturally lit, four-storey atrium recalls traditional Chinese planning principles that privilege space and light at the heart of a building, thus providing for all users an occasion for momentary respite from the rigors of work. Also, Chinese decorative motifs were integrated into the interiors to evoke a sense of locale and culture within the framework of the multinational brand.
Curves, colors, and soft furnishings lend a warm touch to a building type all too often defined as sterile, antiseptic, and placeless. In addition, the center has sustainable features that minimize utility expenses such as a built-in rainwater harvesting system to maintain the landscaped features. Aidea’s delivery of customized materials and sustainable architectural solutions that respond to the facility’s needs and the unique culture of its users established for the client a benchmark for all other buildings of this type that came after it.
